let's go to christie smith at sfo where many people spent the night. how are things going over there? >> reporter: good morning, marla. the sunshine was the best thing that travelers could hope for. when we got here overnight, it was dumping at sfo. since then, it stopped. there was a threat of a rain delay for some flights. we haven't seen that happen. we have seen crowds come and go. some coming so early they had a chance to get some sleep. they didn't have turkey yet, but the sleepy effects of the holiday hit early. travelers arrive three hours early just to beat the rush. >> i'm going los angeles to be with my family and i decided to be here early knowing there will be so many people here. i would rather be early and expecting a lot of people. >> reporter: jill johnson and family packed their electronics to try to pass the time. the family is headed on a long flight to belize. >> just hoping not everyone was here when i was here. i hope the lines are shorter than what they normally are. >> reporter: security lines swelled at times and snaking aroun
